The recording starts mid-way through the story, and continues to the end. (a lot)" on page 138 above in this issue. =====Commentary ===== Burns incorporates the following techniques in his transcription: 1. Vertical spacing to show units of utterance. 2. Dots between lines to indicates pauses. More dots indicate a longer pause. 3. Italics and wholly capitalized words to show emphasis. 4. Words in parentheses to the right to indicate audience or listener speech. 5. Italicized words in parentheses indicate changes in pitch, volume, or intonation. ====Bibliography====
