Overview
Jerome Rothenberg interviewed a Seneca Song Man and transcribed their interview. The interview tooks place over a series of weeks and was focused on Richard Johnny John's life as a songman of the Seneca Tribe located in western New York State.
Context
Richard Johnny John was one of the lead songmakers of his tribe at the time of the interviews and, because of this, he played a prominent part in the Allegany (Seneca) Reservation.
