Tablet XVII - Armand Schwerner
Overview
This transcription and recording is an excerpt of Schwerner's ongoing work with the Sumero-Akkadian tablets which demonstrates the relationship of its oral dimension to the written 1970 score.
Commentary
Schwerner states The Tablets, in their entirety, provide six things for him: a useable poetic structure, an exit strategy in dealing with closures, the opportunity to expand English syntax, an invitation to create spontaneous phonetic improvisations, courage to re-create the animalistic and enabled him to fill in gaps whenever he wanted or needed.
Tablet XVII: subtitled “Ahanarshi's trip” was classified by Schwerner to fall under the familiar anecdotal homiletic genre due to it's combination of its texture being almost surreal and through its personal presence.
