Overview

This transcription and recording is an excerpt of Schwerner's ongoing work with the Sumero-Akkadian tablets which demonstrates the relationship of its oral dimension to the written 1970 score.

Commentary

Schwerner states The Tablets, in their entirety, provide six things for him: a useable poetic structure, an exit strategy in dealing with closures, the opportunity to expand English syntax, an invitation to create spontaneous phonetic improvisations, courage to re-create the animalistic and enabled him to fill in gaps whenever he wanted or needed.

Tablet XVII: subtitled “Ahanarshi's trip” was classified by Schwerner to fall under the familiar anecdotal homiletic genre due to it's combination of its texture being almost surreal and through its personal presence. He goes on to say that there is an archetype of spiritual friendship throughout the text but it is later refined in Judeo-Christianity.

Several parts of the of the transcription are missing portions, or have selections which are unreadable.

The lotus flower is mentioned within the text, but Schwerner states that is etymology is unclear.
