Editing Guide

We may use this space to document process decisions or simply track style-guide decisions.

For Discussion

  • Is there a usefulness and desire to create a more regular structure of “sub-sections” to our wiki entries?

Tags

We may decide to generate a controlled vocabulary content tags that would serve to create cross references or links to other pages in the wiki. Consider what might be useful-tags for the pages you have recently worked on.

Images

  1. When using images, please look for Public Domain or Creative Commons available documents.
  2. Upload only images less than 500K; smaller is preferable. Resize your found image if necessary.
  3. Use the “Caption” element to provide a descriptive name for accessibility; add brief source information; see below.

Basic Formatting

1. At the top of each page, give the title a heading level of one

====== Title of Page ======

Block quote

Long quotes and poem quotes can be visually flagged with special markup.

Here is a block quote:

This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.This is a long quote.

Here is a few lines from a poem within a block quote:

Fancy Format - Boxes and Borders

It is possible to “WRAP” content with code that changes the way it is displayed. You'll see some paragraphs and sections visually set off on this wiki and my course pages in boxes with colorful borders. I'll share the code for some of these people, but we should discuss as a class whether and which to use. It won't contribute to overall coherence of the entries if we all use different visual markers. Be careful since each “box” has a pair of tags; you can easily “break” the box by omitting a closing tag or otherwise not “pairing” them. Also, some other formatting might not work when wrapped in a box.
