However, I think you might do well to lead into it with some more basic context (who are the Nez Perce, where did/do they live? Are they the only cultural group with Coyote stories/songs? (hint: no!)

Very difficult to be sure that global and national political events impact a given group the way you speculate. I'd want some evidence of this before making the connection. I have no idea how the Nez Perce reacted to or welcomed the New Deal.

Consider edits / cuts if theres not evidence. Probably worth looking into some revisionist history for a perspective, such as: The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee: Native America from 1890 to the Present. David Treur.
